Today’s Hospitalist 2008 Compensation & Career Survey showed that 26 percent plan to change jobs within the next two years. Different reasons are involved, including leaving to spend time with family or for personal reasons, working in a different specialty (such as primary care) or joining a fellowship. For many residents who wish to increase their competitiveness for fellowship, many are choosing to become hospitalists which gives them a practical experience " edge". The reason is that being a hospitalist offers enough flexibility and career development opportunities that more and more residents are choosing this venue to "set a foot in the door" in a pursuit that would lead them to their ultimate career choice.
I happen to be a resident who chose this path and in creating this blog, I am hoping to share my journey as a hospitalist and an " evoloving" oncologist with all of you. I hope that my blog will attract like minded hospitalists or residents who wish to share their tips and success stories.
